Job Overview

Great Ormond Street Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Play Worker. This position is a fantastic opportunity for someone to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality play opportunities for patients, their families, and carers. This will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement play plans that cater to the individual needs of each child.

They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Organise and facilitate play sessions for individual and groups of children and young people.
  • Plan and adapt play sessions to meet the needs of each child, taking into account their age, ability, and medical condition.
  • Assist in the creation of a safe and welcoming play environment that promotes social interaction and emotional well-being.
  • Support parents and carers in engaging with their child through play, providing guidance and resources as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
