About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) School. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm position that requires someone with strong behaviour management skills, empathy, and the ability to support students who face social and emotional challenges.
As an integral part of the school community, you will work closely with students who have struggled in mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning and develop positive behaviours. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with SEMH needs and be committed to providing consistent support in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them manage their emotions and behaviours in a healthy and constructive way.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Build strong relationships with students, offering empathy and understanding of their emotional and social challenges.
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons, adapting activities to meet the needs of students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties.
- Collaborate with the wider school team to create and maintain a supportive, safe, and inclusive environment.
- Monitor student progress, offering feedback to teachers and supporting staff to ensure students are receiving the right level of care and guidance.
What We're Looking For:
- A proven track record of supporting students with SEMH needs in a similar role or setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliability and a commitment to providing consistent, high-quality support.
The salary for this position is approximately £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
