We're seeking ambitious and capable undergraduates to join our Industrial Placement scheme as Data Engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience working on real-world projects that have a significant impact on our daily lives.

What You'll Do
  1. You'll develop skills while working under supervision to deliver stories in a multidisciplinary team
  2. You'll be able to share with others in the importance of data engineering
  3. You'll understand and be proficient in different data types used in the Met Office

The salary for this role is £25,606 per annum, and includes 27.5 days' annual leave. You'll also have access to discounted shopping and other benefits.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be studying towards a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, or a related field which MUST incorporate a placement year (i.e. sandwich course). You should also have experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or R, as well as a good understanding of data flows, data structures, algorithms, data engineering principles, and business intelligence (BI) systems.

About the Team

You'll be part of the Data Services tribe, which implements and supports the services that allow the discovery, querying, subsetting and processing of environmental data via a set of internal interfaces. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside diverse and highly skilled experts in your field and contribute to the delivery of our weather and climate services.
