Data Engineer Role in Environmental Data Services

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our National Capability Technology function, specifically within the Data Services Tribe.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing and supporting services that allow the discovery, querying, subsetting, and processing of environmental data via internal interfaces.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on projects that matter and make a difference in the field of weather and climate prediction.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and develop skills while working under supervision to deliver stories. Your responsibilities will include understanding and being proficient in different data types used in the Met Office, as well as understanding scripts/methods used to transform our data.

A key aspect of this role is sharing with others the importance of data engineering, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams.

This is a temporary position until July 2026, but there is potential for it to develop into an opportunity to join our Graduate Development scheme once you have completed your University studies.

In addition to your salary of £27,000 - £30,000 per annum, you will also receive access to discounted shopping, inclusive of retail, leisure, and lifestyle brands.
