About the Role:

This apprenticeship is designed for those already employed by Stagecoach who wish to transition into a role as a world-class Body and Coachbuilder. The programme provides comprehensive training and support, enabling you to achieve industry-recognised qualifications and gain hands-on experience.

What You Will Learn:

  • Health and Safety: Understand the importance of safety protocols in the workshop and on site
  • Tools and Equipment: Familiarise yourself with the various tools and equipment used in body and coachbuilding
  • Welding, Glazing, and Painting: Develop skills in welding, glazing, and painting to achieve high-quality finishes
  • Body Panel Repair and Replacement: Learn how to safely remove and refit body panels, and repair damage to body panels
  • Interior Repairs: Develop skills in repairing interior components, including seats and flooring
  • Vehicle Preparation and Masking: Understand the process of preparing vehicles for painting and applying protective masking

In addition to practical training, you will attend a specialist training college in Glasgow, working towards achieving a body-specific apprenticeship standard. During the final year, you will be paired with an experienced mentor, providing guidance and support as you consolidate your technical skills.

  • Genuine interest in engineering
  • Reliability, punctuality, and enthusiasm
  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • If lacking GCSE grade C or above in English, Maths, and Science, or equivalent, additional attendance at college may be required
