Carrington West, a leading recruitment agency for town planning professionals, is seeking an experienced Economic Development Coordinator to join their client's team in London on a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will provide vital support to the Business Services Manager and the wider Economic Development Team in driving the development and implementation of innovative business engagement and enterprise programs that align with the borough's Industrial Strategy and inclusive economy goals.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Head of Service and the Economic Development Team in developing and delivering new approaches to business engagement and enterprise programs, ensuring alignment with the borough's Industrial Strategy and inclusive economy ambitions.
  2. Foster relationships with existing and new businesses to promote a resilient, vibrant, and inclusive local economy.
  3. Offer an effective and efficient customer-focused service, including crafting succinct and structured communications, such as newsletters, web content, publicity materials, and drafting informed responses to formal and informal inquiries from senior officers, councillors, partners, and the public.
  4. Develop working relationships with property management agents and landlords to understand the supply and demand for vacant commercial premises and identify potential meanwhile space opportunities.
  5. Engage with businesses to participate in programs and associations.
  6. Support local business associations by organizing meetings, taking minutes, and coordinating activities.
  7. Commission and manage suppliers' high street and business support programs.
  8. Maintain an active CRM/database of high street businesses to track outputs/outcomes and ensure effective communication with all businesses.
  9. Provide high-quality written and oral briefings, policy advice, and reports for senior officers, elected members, other departments, and key external stakeholders.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in economic development or a related field.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of business engagement and enterprise programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive hourly rate of £28-£32 per hour, depending on experience. You will also have the opportunity to work on exciting projects and develop your skills and expertise in economic development.
