Social Communications and Interactions Specialist

The role of the Special Education Lead is to develop and implement strategies to support students with Communication and Interaction Special Educational Needs or Disabilities at Midsomer Norton Primary School. This involves working with individual students and small groups to enhance their ability to access learning and improve their interactions in and out of the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading 1:1 and small group interventions for students of all years, with a focus on Key Stage.
  2. Developing and delivering interventions such as Lego therapy, Life Skills, Archery, and Talk about.
  3. Liaising with the SENCO, pastoral staff, and the Senior Leadership Team to monitor student progress.
  4. Collaborating with families and outside agencies to support students on intervention programmes.
