We are seeking an experienced Employee Experience Strategist to lead on the development and delivery of employee experience strategies and solutions that support the Ministry of Defence to meet its corporate and departmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with HR colleagues to ensure the provision of a seamless and joined-up end-to-end employee experience to the organisation.
- Develop and implement engagement plans, campaigns, and activities within agreed deadlines, ensuring that stakeholders are properly consulted and informed.
- Act as the Employee Experience subject matter expert on employee engagement strategies to provide innovative, cost-effective, and timely solutions.
- Evaluate and report progress against wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion, and engagement activity to demonstrate effectiveness and value.
- Support senior stakeholders in meeting the People and Culture Strategy.
- Ensure the Ministry of Defence's internal and external audit requirements in relation to recruitment processes are satisfied.
- Create ways to measure and assess engagement, such as surveys.
- Create tools and approaches to enhance engagement.
- Review management practices and their impact on the employee experience.
- Review and enhance the employer brand.
- Create onboarding approaches that positively impact engagement from the start of the employment journey.
- Build a culture of trust.
- Assess the impact that people practices and policies have on the employee experience.
- Design communication approaches that give employees a voice in the organisation.
- Create tools and approaches to enhance engagement.
- Lead by example as a role model for MOD/MDP's values and professional standards.
- Drive the delivery of business and corporate plans for your own areas of responsibility.
- Initiate continuous improvement in your own areas of responsibility.
- Take a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring any risks and issues identified are addressed and reported and, where appropriate, escalated.
- Manage individuals or teams through line management and/or matrix management arrangements as required, ensuring underperformance is managed and adequate resourcing is planned to meet objectives.
- Manage delegated resources (budgets, equipment, and contracts) as appropriate, to ensure value for money.
- Be fully aware of and actively comply with College of Policing (COP) policies and procedures relevant to your own responsibilities and to corporate policies and procedures, including equality, sustainability, and the environment, health and safety, and data protection.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by line management.
Experience:
- Previous experience of managing employee experience work strands.
- Experience of leading multi-disciplinary work to achieve objectives.
- Experience of delivering priority work within strict timelines.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to build effective relationships with line managers and senior leaders.
- Ability to design and develop strategic interventions, utilising strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex and technical information with clarity.
- Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences.
- Able to provide effective line management and/or project team management to achieve objectives.
- Strong ability to work flexibly, managing changing and competing priorities.
- Able to systematically analyse information to produce clear recommendations that can be understood by a non-technical audience.
- Able to use evidence and judgement to solve problems, test options, and create new approaches.
- Ability to identify, analyse, and take action to effectively manage risk, in line with MOD/MDP risk framework.
- Able to challenge and influence others, to contribute professional and technical expertise to effective decision-making.
- Able to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, to work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
- Ability to understand MOD/MDP strategic context and shape work to contribute to the organisation's priorities.
- Able to communicate strategic priorities to others and enable them to understand their contribution to those priorities.
- Able to use project management disciplines to lead or contribute to project work.
Knowledge, including qualifications:
- Understanding of employment law and HR best practice in relation to Employee Journey.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Civil Service policies commensurate with the role.
- Good understanding of equality and diversity.
- CIPD qualification.
- Understanding of the MOD and College of Policing system and the role and approaches to employee experience activities as appropriate.
