Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our team at South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Cyber Security Engineer and the Cyber Security Architect to ensure that appropriate technical resources are trained and then aligned to work streams, to deliver seamless and consistent cyber security services.

The role is a 'hands-on' technical position requiring extensive experience in supporting highly resilient systems, enterprise-level critical cyber security infrastructure, and being the subject matter expert in Organisational/Departmental level projects.

About the Role:
  • This is a key position within our organisation, responsible for ensuring the delivery of cyber security services to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA's) and technical standards.
  • As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you will be working closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, monitor, and support security architecture.
  • You will also be responsible for managing risk and vulnerability, handling user requests, audit, and system testing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to provide training and education to users and other stakeholders.
  • A keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills are required to identify potential issues and resolve problems.
  • In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the development of policies and procedures relevant to your role.

About You:

  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant IT/technical discipline.
  • Vendor-specific qualifications from Microsoft or others as relevant.
  • Specific qualifications in cyber security technologies such as firewall, VPN, email security gateway, SIEM, PAM, AV, IDS/IPS, and Vulnerability Scanner.
  • Holds a current ITIL v4 Foundation/Practitioner certificate or a lapsed ITIL v3 Foundation/Practitioner certificate or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years proven experience in IT security role, preferably within the NHS or healthcare sector.
  • Experience of being the subject matter expert in Organisational/Departmental level projects.
  • Experience of documenting policies and procedures relevant to role.
