We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a Derby-based school.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher and SENDCO to provide a tailored education to the child, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to the child, adapting learning materials to meet their specific needs.
  • Assist the class teacher with daily preparation, activities, and ensure the child remains engaged and motivated.
  • Implement an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and contribute to the monitoring of the child's progress.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, teaching staff, and other specialists to ensure holistic development.
  • Support the child's social and emotional development, encouraging them to build self-esteem and confidence.
  • Ensure the child's safety and well-being during the school day.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 or 3 Qualification in Childcare (or other relevant qualification)
  • Experience working with children with SEND is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A degree in Education, Special Educational Needs, Psychology (or related field)
  • Additional SEND training or qualification.
