Job Summary
Salary and Terms
The salary for this position will be pro-rated for part-time and term-time hours. This is a temporary role.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide support to young people with additional support needs within our schools. This may include Boclair Academy and other primary and secondary schools as required.
You will be responsible for the personal care needs of pupils and, under the direction of the class/subject teacher, you will help pupils with specific learning activities to follow instructions and organise their work. When required, you will provide supervision for pupils out with the classroom, such as in the playground, corridors, dining area, during PE, and organised school trips.
Person Specification
You will have a pleasant, tolerant manner and a proven capacity to establish positive relationships with children and young people. Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs, and an interest in their development, is essential.
A relevant qualification in childcare is desirable.

This post is subject to a PVG check.
PVG/Disclosure Scotland
The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential:
Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate's first salary payment.
In specific circumstances, the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee's wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee's final salary.
