Job Summary

The Cabinet Office is seeking a Data Protection Officer to ensure the effective implementation of data protection legislation and policies within the organization. This role will be responsible for providing expert guidance and assurance on data protection matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of data protection principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide expert guidance and assurance on data protection matters to senior leaders and operational staff.
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating risks.
  • Lead on data protection training and awareness programs to ensure staff are equipped to handle sensitive personal information.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure data protection is integrated into all aspects of the organization's operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a data protection related role, with a deep understanding of data protection principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and provide guidance to senior leaders and operational staff.
  • Ability to think strategically and consider a range of options to manage organizational impact.
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations and standards.
