Job Title: Principal Engineer – Human Factors

Location: UK-wide with opportunities to work in Barrow-In-Furness, Filton, or Frimley.

Salary: £90,000 - £120,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our Human Factors team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for assessing risks of human error and providing expert advice to ensure the safe design and operation of our submarines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing task analysis to identify potential hazards and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Working closely with process authors to improve procedures and reduce the risk of unintended outcomes.
  • Representing Human Factors at design technical reviews to ensure safety considerations are integrated into the design process.
Requirements
  • Degree in Human Factors/Psychology or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable Human Factors experience, with a proven track record of delivering safety-oriented solutions.
  • Proven coaching and mentoring skills, with experience in developing others' skills and knowledge.
  • Experience in writing assessment reports and safety cases, with a focus on communicating complex information effectively.
