Ophthalmic Business Development Manager

A career opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ophthalmic Business Development Manager to join a rapidly growing, specialty Ophthalmic company with a strong track record of execution. With 30 eye care products launched globally since 2007, this is a great chance to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on delivering high-quality eye care solutions.
This role will involve developing and executing an account plan for the territory, managing customer relationships, and identifying key stakeholders to establish influential relationships and drive access for the company's products. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting market development initiatives, identifying new accounts, and effectively targeting resources to maximise opportunities while adhering to industry compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a pharmaceutical or medical device sales representative in Secondary care, a proven track record of achievement, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should be proficient in MS Office 365: Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, and Outlook. In terms of salary, we estimate this position to offer a competitive annual salary of around £60,000 - £80,000, dependent on experience, plus benefits and incentives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer relationship management and execution of the sales process.
- Developing and executing an account plan for the territory.
- Proactively initiating, developing, and implementing a growth plan to improve current position and maximise opportunity.
- Achieving targets and objectives for the territory.
- Ophthalmic Hospital sales / Hospital formularies / CCGs or ICBs (product switches).
Qualifications and Requirements:
The company requires a University degree (or equivalent) ideally in Life Sciences, Business, or Marketing. ABPI certification is also necessary. Additionally, a full UK driving licence is required. Experience working with local healthcare key opinion leaders and advocates is beneficial. The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships with peers and cross-functionally to enable high performance.
