Job Summary:

We are seeking an Apprentice Road Construction Operative to join our team at DYWICH. This 2-year training program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in road maintenance and construction while working alongside experienced professionals.

About the Role:

This position involves working as part of a Surfacing squad, performing various tasks, including manual placement of asphalt materials, operating plant equipment, and assisting with daily pre-use checks on equipment. You will also have the chance to learn from more experienced operatives and take on more responsibilities as you become more confident in your knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a Surfacing squad, undertaking road maintenance, road and footway surfacing, and other ancillary activities.
  • Perform banksman duties for items of plant and delivery vehicles.
  • Manual placement of asphalt materials, including shovelling, barrowing, and raking.
  • Operate items of plant, such as pavers, rollers, tractors, etc., and hand-held items like saws and breakers.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified driver (optional).
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Genuine interest in the road surfacing field.
  • Versatile, flexible, and accommodating worker.
  • Trustworthy, friendly, timely, and reliable.
