Job Title: Locum Associate

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced science editor to join our team on a locum basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for editing feature stories focused on biological research, working closely with our art team to produce high-quality visuals, and collaborating with our audience and engagement team to ensure our content appeals to our readers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and identify ideas for original, compelling feature stories that appeal to our audience of working scientists
  • Edit copy to high standards and tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with our art team to produce beautiful graphics and visuals for digital and print
  • Work with our audience and engagement team to ensure our content appeals to our readers
  • Report to our Chief Features Editor and work collaboratively with other features editors and teams

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in journalism and editing, focused on science
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Enthusiasm for, and basic fluency in, an array of science topics and fields
  • Good interpersonal skills and ease working with staff and freelance colleagues
  • Sophisticated understanding of the international research, science policy, and funding landscape
