About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Academic English to join our team at Harris City Academy Crystal Palace. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the English department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the English department, including staff development and deployment
  • Develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies to raise student outcomes
  • Manage and deploy resources, including budget and personnel, to achieve departmental goals
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive curriculum
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them
Requirements
  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
  • Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level
  • Have experience of initiation and effective management of change
  • Show good understanding of how children learn and how to raise standards of achievement
  • Have good communication skills in speech and writing
