Job Title: Head of Academic English

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is a high-performing school with a strong commitment to academic excellence. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Academic English to join our team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our English language curriculum, ensuring that it is broad, balanced, and relevant to the needs of our students. They will also be responsible for managing and deploying staff, financial, and physical resources within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive English language curriculum that meets the needs of our students
  • Manage and deploy staff, financial, and physical resources within the department
  • Ensure the effective operation of target setting, monitoring, and evaluation systems
  • Teach and act as an outstanding role model for students
  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and ideally, management training
  • Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level
  • Have experience of initiation and effective management of change
  • Show good understanding of how children learn and how to raise standards of achievement
  • Have good communication skills in speech and writing
