The Role

You will be responsible for designing and optimizing laser communication optical sub-systems, such as telescopes and relays, for extreme environments. This will involve defining requirements, performing trade-off analyses, modeling and validating systems, and serving as the subject matter expert for optical and photonic technologies. You will ensure that systems meet performance standards and collaborate with suppliers.

Salary and Benefits

Requirements and Skills
  • Expertise in optical system design, modeling, and trade studies using zemax.
  • Hands-on experience testing and validating optical systems.
  • Proven ability to design for extreme environments and mass-constrained applications.
  • Familiarity with complex systems (e.g., telescopes, optical relays) and image stabilization.
  • Knowledge of photonic components such as lasers, detectors, and optical coatings.
