Phlebotomist Healthcare Professional

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team at Ventnor Medical Practice. We are seeking a part-time enthusiastic and self-motivated Phlebotomist to work alongside our friendly and supportive team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:- Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples from patients under the direct supervision of the lead practice nurse and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
- Ensure patients are comfortable and relaxed, and confirm their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
- Collect and store blood samples in appropriate containers, accurately labelling them to confirm patient identity.
- Record the collection of blood samples in patient records in accordance with practice procedure.
- Dispatch samples to laboratories in a timely fashion and report any anomalies to senior staff.
- Notify GPs or practitioners of any significant patient issues.
- Liaise with and assist members of the administrative team.
The post-holder will be responsible for maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the practice's Health & Safety policy, Infection Control policy, and published procedures.

Person Specification:- Venipuncture skills and ability to record accurate clinical notes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Clear and polite telephone manner.
- Effective time management and ability to work autonomously.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to follow clinical policy and procedure.
- Competence in the use of Office and Outlook.
- Good standard of general education.
- Experience of working with the general public, in a healthcare setting, and in a primary care environment.
