About the Role

We're expanding our Large Capital Delivery teams with a new Lead Design Engineer for our £4bn RIIO ED2 business plan. You'll manage the design team handling various projects from 11kV to 132kV schemes, ensuring cost-effective solutions are realised from feasibility design through to detailed design packs and design approvals.

  1. Managing a large project design portfolio, coordinating resources, ensuring quality control of design outputs in accordance with SSE policies, and approving designs for efficiency.
  2. Enhancing productivity and customer service excellence by overseeing daily design team operations, optimizing costs, and improving contractor performance.
  3. Identifying improvement opportunities, setting performance targets, and managing KPIs within the broader Engineering Design team.
  4. Effectively liaising with our contractor design partners to ensure design delivery aligns with programme schedules and budget constraints.

As a key member of our Engineering Design team, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions that meet our customers' needs. You'll work closely with our contractor design partners to ensure design delivery aligns with programme schedules and budget constraints.
