Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Project Manager to join our team at TRS Staffing Solutions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing subcontract packages on airfield projects, with a combined value up to £30m. The role involves achieving project delivery objectives while maintaining health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control standards.

The Senior Commercial Project Manager will work closely with the Commercial Manager, engineers, and surveyors to ensure safe project completion while meeting customer requirements and expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise managers on achieving best monetary value for proposals and procurement options.
  • Manage both subcontracted and self-delivery packages, including forecasting day work labour and plant.
  • Commercial relationships with subcontractors, balancing delivery of quality services with achieving business value.
  • Cost control and budgeting procedures in line with financial systems.
  • Effective communication to integrate with all project aspects and collaborate with project management teams.
  • Liaison with procurement and accounts teams for compliance with financial parameters.
  • Produce and monitor Applications/Final Accounts.
  • Check agreed sub-contract Applications/Accounts.
  • Change/Contract Management with subcontractors and clients.
  • Early Warning Procedures.
  • Compensation Events and processes.
  • Identifying design risk as an internal change or client change item.
  • Coach and advise Assistant Quantity Surveyors to develop their skill set.
Requirements
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related qualification.
  • Quantity Surveying experience in managing subcontracted and self-delivery packages in civil engineering and/or utilities.
  • Working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
  • Awareness or working knowledge of various NEC contract amendments.
  • Knowledge of contract structure and law.
  • Experience of contract management.
  • Procurement (subcontract) experience.
  • Estimation skills, including drafting Bills of quantities and interpreting subcontract BoQs.
  • Knowledge of programme management.
  • Experience of managing a supply chain and subcontractors.
  • Experience of working in a cost-conscious environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation.
Salary

£55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
