Job Description

This role will involve contributing to strategic research and development goals, prioritizing workloads, and coordinating scientific work streams and processes. The successful applicant will be working in a fast-paced environment and must be a proactive, organised individual with a range of technical expertise and knowledge in virology, molecular and cell biology.

Responsibilities

  • Collation and presentation of research findings at internal meetings
  • Contribution to a range of key strategic documents including reports and presentations, patent applications, and regulatory filings
  • Act as independent scientist reviewer and sign off lab books, verify the calculations, and approve technical SOPs

Requirements

  • A PhD or equivalent experience in Molecular Biology, Virology, Biotechnology or similar discipline
  • Experience in design and execution of molecular biology based experiments (e.g. DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, gibson assembly, sequencing, transfections)
  • Planning, troubleshooting & hands-on execution of omics experiments (e.g. short-read / long-read sequencing, transcriptomics, primer / probe design)
  • Builds networks with other teams and external specialists
  • Evidence of impactful research experience through publications, patents and/or presentations at national/international conferences
  • Strong IT skills (including proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and comfort using shared drives
  • Experience with ONT sequencing and knowledge of good practice in bioinformatics (e.g. version control, reproducibility, pipeline management), data provenance and storage
  • In vivo oncology work experience
