Welcome to Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, a leading provider of mental health and specialist services in the North West. We are currently seeking an experienced Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team as a Consultant Psychiatrist within our Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT).
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to work with individuals with learning disabilities and or autism who have offended or are at risk of offending. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care through comprehensive psychiatric services, including risk assessments, management, and therapeutic interventions.
The role requires close collaboration with in-patient services to reduce length of stay, support step-down and recovery in the community, and apply proactive risk management approaches to enable service users to achieve their goals. You will also participate in regular Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, CPA reviews, MAPPA, safeguarding, and risk reviews.
We are looking for an individual with excellent clinical skills, using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge. You should possess strong oral and written communication skills in English, as well as knowledge of alternatives to inpatient admission care approaches.
