Diet Service Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Diet Service Technician at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing milk feeds in the Special Feeds Unit and therapeutic meals in the Diet Kitchen for children admitted to hospital.
Main Responsibilities
- To undertake general administrative duties such as secure chats on Epic, phone enquiries regarding feeds from hospital staff, hygiene monitoring paperwork and photocopying.
- To deal with confidential and sensitive information relating to patients and duties.
- To check production stock delivery and report immediately if any deliveries are incorrect.
- To check patient information and feed type, ensuring all the component parts as per the feed recipe are available prior to the preparation of the feed or diet.
- To read the recipe and inform Dietitians of any errors.
- To read each individual feed recipe on the SFU / DK Computer system and prepare as per the dietetic instructions.
- To monitor and check all equipment for performance and breakage, keeping clean fridges, freezers, pasteurisers, weighing scales.
- To report any broken specialist equipment such as pasteurisers and bottle washers to HoP and DSM.
- To identify and report any broken facilities such as locks, floors, and cupboards to service desks.
- To help in the organisation and receipt of stock items, consumables, etc., ensuring where appropriate that items are placed at the correct storage temperature.
