About the Role

The Open University UK is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to support the development, promotion, and delivery of its Careers and Employability Services. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in promoting student and alumni engagement with the services, managing social media, and ensuring the accessibility of resources.

This is a part-time position of 18.5 hours per week, with a preferred work pattern of Monday (7.5 hours), Tuesday (3.5 hours), and Wednesday (7.5 hours). You will be responsible for supporting the co-production of a monthly newsletter, creating engaging content for social media, and monitoring the impact of online activities.

You will also be responsible for monitoring, updating, and supporting the operation of online forums and webinars, as well as supporting the development and maintenance of online career resources. Additionally, you will liaise with other specialist university teams to arrange and co-ordinate marketing and communications.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complicated information into plain English for different audiences. You will also have experience in supporting the operation of customer-facing activities, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and using social media platforms to create and publish content.

We are looking for a team player who can work independently and take initiative to solve problems creatively. You will have excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, and be able to use a range of IT and management information systems. A clear commitment to OU values and mission, particularly embracing equality and diversity, is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the promotion and engagement of students and alumni with CES through the co-production of a monthly newsletter, creating engaging content for social media, and monitoring the impact of online activities.
  • Monitoring, updating, and supporting the operation of online forums and webinars.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of online career resources, including careers and employability-related online articles, tools, and platforms.
  • Liaising with other specialist university teams to arrange and co-ordinate marketing and communications.
  • Supporting the development and co-ordination of processes and standards across CES related to delivery and quality assurance.
  • Assisting in monitoring, collating, and data related to feedback, Student Voice, service delivery, and development projects.
  • Contributing to equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring accessibility of resources and services through format design and content checking.
  • Supporting the production and editing of a wide range of resources, including graphics, information sheets, PowerPoint presentations, and video and audio material.
  • Providing ad-hoc administrative support to development projects, trials, and delivery of services.
