Senior District Energy Engineer

Ramboll is a leading consultancy firm in the UK, with a strong presence in the district energy sector. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal District Energy Engineer to join our team.
The successful candidate will have a leading role in delivering innovative district heating and cooling projects, from conceptual design to operational performance improvement. Our clients include government agencies, local authorities, energy companies, commercial property developers, and public bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assume a leading role in the design of innovative low-carbon district heating and cooling projects.
- Undertake and lead design activities, including feasibility studies, heat network zoning, hydraulic and energy modeling, and technical design and specification development.
- Support the development of junior engineers and consultants, promoting a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.
- Engage proactively with the team and become a reliable and trusted team member.
- Support the development of junior team members.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of engineers and consultants, contributing to the delivery of innovative district energy projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, chemical, electrical, process, or energy engineering, with Chartered or working towards Chartered status within a recognized Professional Institution.
Requirements:
- Experience in designing low-carbon district heating and cooling schemes, including heat generation and storage, distribution, and building connections.
- Experience in techno-economic modeling of district heating and cooling.
- Good mechanical, chemical, electrical, process, or energy engineering-related degree.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status within a recognized Professional Institution.
- Experience in using packaged software design tools, such as EnergyPro, Termis, Hysopt, AutoCAD, GIS, or equivalent.
