We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Cancer Care Specialist Lead. This exciting opportunity is based at our state-of-the-art cancer care centre in Portsmouth, where you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored exercise medicine assessment and prescription for people with cancer.

The Role
  • As a Cancer Care Specialist Lead, you will be accountable for ensuring risk assessments are completed for all patients using the exercise clinic.
  • You will be responsible for delegating tasks to the Exercise Clinic Assistant and providing ongoing clinical supervision, training, and direct line support.
  • You will ensure accurate data collection and update patient documentation in a timely manner, adhering to HCPC standards of proficiency and GCUK policy.
  • You will collect and present data about the service, using it to recommend improvements and service development.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience or equivalent clinical experience at a Band 6 level, primarily working with patients in Oncology.
  • Additional training will be provided by GenesisCare.
  • Experience working in a clinic setting, teaching, and supervising less experienced staff.
  • Able to work autonomously and use your initiative.
  • Motivational Interviewing/Behaviour Change training.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working.
  • Clinical audit and/or research experience.
  • Evidence of active involvement in service development and contribution to change within the workplace.
  • Advanced clinical reasoning and management of complex cases.
  • Understanding of the skills required for service development and evaluation.
  • Effective communication skills to various audiences, including patients, carers, and professionals.
  • Prioritisation of workload and effective time management.
  • Experience working effectively and efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and audit programmes in line with Clinical Governance requirements.
  • Self-direction in thought and practice.
  • Research and development process knowledge.
  • Ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
Qualifications and Knowledge
  • BSc Degree in Physiotherapy or Diploma or equivalent.
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration for profession.
  • Evidence or portfolio of postgraduate continued development, preferably in oncology, rehabilitation, and exercise science.
