Principal Data Engineer (GCP)

Job Summary:

VIPU Limited is seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Engineer to join their team in the Northwest region. This is a hybrid role that offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of data engineering projects, including data ingestion, quality, modelling, transformation, security, and monitoring.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring robust and compliant data processes on Google Cloud Platform. This will involve working closely with the Principal Cloud Engineer and Data Architect to design reliable data pipelines and communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data ingestion, quality, modelling, transformation, security, and monitoring
  • Automation, process improvement, mentoring engineers, setting coding standards, and optimising queries
  • Collaboration with the Principal Cloud Engineer and Data Architect to design reliable data pipelines

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years in Data Engineering roles
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Over 3 years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Deep expertise in SQL and Data Lake/Warehouse solutions
  • Advanced skills in programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java, or Scala
  • Extensive knowledge of query optimisation techniques and a proven track record in refining complex SQL queries
  • Comprehensive understanding of Data Governance principles, including Data Dictionaries, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Lineage, Data Privacy laws, and Personal Identifiable Information (PII) management
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
