Design and Development Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Design and Development Engineer to join our team in Coventry. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing steering systems to meet customer-driven requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and amend steering systems and components using 3D modeling software, primarily SolidWorks, for various vehicle manufacturers and applications.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive models and drawings suitable for manufacturing and assembly, including specifications, material selection, geometric tolerancing, and surface treatments.
  • Liaise directly with customers, suppliers, and internal departments on a technical/design responsible level.
  • Experience of testing and validation, including setup and running of sample tests, technical report writing, interpreting results, and subsequent decision-making activities.
  • Able to carry out hand calculations to evaluate loads, forces, torque, and material suitability.
  • Knowledge and use of FMEAs, APQP, 8D problem-solving techniques, and project management.
  • Understanding of project costing and justification, quotations, and project cost estimates.
  • Create a Bill of Manufacture via ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of electronics, programming, and control systems is an advantage.
Requirements:
  • Qualified to at least HND or Degree level in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Fully conversant with SolidWorks CAD Software.
  • Understanding of the product realization and change control elements of the IATF-16949 business management system.
  • Full driving license.
