We are seeking a skilled and passionate Nursery Chef to join our team at Banana Moon Day Nurseries.
Key Responsibilities:- Create and execute a menu that follows nutritional guidelines and meets the specific needs of young children.
- Prepare meals for up to 50 children daily, including breakfast, lunch, and late afternoon tea.
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a safe and hygienic manner.
- Manage the kitchen, including menu planning, budgeting, and ordering food supplies.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the kitchen.
- Engage with children during cooking sessions, allowing them to have hands-on experience with food preparation.
- Work closely with the nursery staff to accommodate special dietary requirements and allergies.
- Previous experience in a similar cooking role, ideally within a nursery or care home setting.
- Strong knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practices.
- Ability to plan menus that are nutritious, balanced, and appealing to young children.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage the kitchen efficiently.
- Creative and adaptable to accommodate different dietary needs and preferences.
This is a full-time, permanent position with flexible working hours, Monday to Friday. A valid Food Hygiene certificate at minimum level 2 is required. An enhanced DBS check is also mandatory due to working in a nursery environment.
