Nursery Chef

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Nursery Chef to join our team at Banana Moon Day Nurseries. As a key member of our nursery staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals for our children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a menu that meets the nutritional needs of young children and adheres to our nursery's guidelines.
- Prepare and serve meals for up to 50 children daily, including breakfast, lunch, and late afternoon tea.
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a safe and hygienic manner, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the kitchen.
- Manage the kitchen, including menu planning, budgeting, and ordering food supplies, while working closely with the nursery staff to accommodate special dietary requirements and allergies.
- Engage with children during cooking sessions, allowing them to have hands-on experience with food preparation and promoting their interest in healthy eating.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar cooking role, ideally within a nursery or care home setting.
- Strong knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practices, with a valid Food Hygiene certificate at minimum level 2.
- Ability to plan menus that are nutritious, balanced, and appealing to young children.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage the kitchen efficiently and effectively.
- Creative and adaptable to accommodate different dietary needs and preferences.
This is a full-time, permanent position with flexible working hours, Monday to Friday. An enhanced DBS check is mandatory due to working in a nursery environment.
