About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Brainkind. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with brain injuries, enabling them to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized support to service users, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with service users, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation of a homely and supportive environment, encouraging service users to participate in activities and make informed decisions about their care.
  • Facilitate daily routines, including personal care, and promote a high standard of personal hygiene.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individual support plans, risk assessments, and programs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless care and support, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance the service user experience.
  • Act as a Keyworker for designated service users, liaising closely with relevant staff to ensure quality services are delivered.
  • Report any concerns or issues to line management, providing information to enable them to take appropriate action.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of relevant documentation, including support plans and risk assessments.
  • Attend and contribute to annual reviews, multi-disciplinary meetings, and other relevant meetings as required.
  • Contribute to daily handovers, ensuring effective communication between staff.
  • Support and administer medication, following relevant training and individual guidelines.
  • Support service users with financial transactions, in line with individual support plans and company policies.
  • Support service users' health and wellbeing, including attending appointments and promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Work in accordance with the rota system, including unsociable hours, sleep-in duties, and reasonable traveling requirements.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate individual with:

  • Experience of supporting a service through a phase of growth and improvement.
  • Skills in supporting staff through tools such as supervisions and observations to give excellent quality care.
  • Ability to support staff to make full, meaningful, and appropriate records.
  • Incident reporting skills.
  • Key opportunity to join the local leadership team in driving quality improvements and cultural change.
  • Boundaried, dignified, and able to keep own counsel.
  • Genuine empathy for our residents, with positivity, patience, and resilience to support them through challenging times.
  • Excellent face-to-face communication skills and a good standard of literacy.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize your own workload.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Full driving license.
  • Team working experience.
  • Experience of working within a care environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding.
