Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Trials Research Assistant to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the research team in the conduct of clinical trials, ensuring high-quality care and treatment for patients in line with trust protocols.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the feasibility and start-up of clinical trials
  • Coordinating the recruitment and delivery of studies
  • Collaborating with the research team to implement studies and translate scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes
  • Providing comprehensive experience of Trust IT systems, including Metavision, Jacs, and eCamis
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a Life, Physiological, or Physical Science, or a related field, or equivalent level of theoretical and practical knowledge
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • International Conference on Harmonisation/Good Clinical Practice (ICH/GCP) Certification
  • Venesection and cannulation skills
Desirable Qualities

We are looking for someone with:

  • Significant clinical experience, working face-to-face with patients, in a relevant specialty
  • Recent NHS clinical experience or equivalent
  • Understanding of personal accountability
  • Logical and consistent work and career pattern
  • Interest in Clinical Research
  • Experience in teaching and supporting learners in practice
  • Clinical Research experience
  • Knowledge of UK Policy Framework for Health & Social Care and ICH/GCP
