Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Youth Care Specialist Lead to join our team at one of our residential homes in Surrey. As a key member of our staff team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in the home, while also supporting them to reach their full potential.
Salary and Benefits
The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary of £28,621.56 per annum, with the potential to earn up to £30,301.56 per annum with sleep-in shifts. Additionally, you will receive a generous benefits package, including company pension, access to wellbeing programmes, and promotion opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in the home, as well as their individual developmental needs.
- Planning and preparing activities that meet the young people's needs and stimulate their learning and integration within the home.
- Maintaining accurate records of each young person's progress and achievements.
- Supporting and leading Residential Support Workers to ensure all staff comply with policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with parents/carers and local authorities.
- Providing firm boundaries and challenging unacceptable behaviour, while ensuring the care provided meets the individual needs of each young person.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong background in residential childcare or a related field, with previous experience working with teenage boys or challenging behaviour.
- A willingness to further develop your skills and knowledge in this area.
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle (due to the rural location of our services).
- Hold a relevant qualification such as the Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
