Key Role in Financial Services

This is a critical position within the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with the Deputy Head of Financial Services and other key team members to maintain a robust financial control environment. The role extends beyond the Financial Services unit to the Charitable funds and other external reporting arrangements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement capital accounting policies, aligning with the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.
  • Deliver monthly accounting and reporting for the Trust's charity, working with the Deputy Head of Financial Services.
  • Manage the Trust's Fixed Asset portfolio and perform the capital programme, ensuring timely and effective implementation without breaching the Trust Capital Resource Limit.
  • Interpret and advise on complex accounting policies and practices, contributing to the completion of the monthly Provider Finance Returns (PFRs) to NHSEI and internal Board and Committee reporting.
  • Manage the Trust's Charity to ensure obligations are met, and support Trust senior managers and finance colleagues with business case development, including advising on capital accounting, lease accounting, and VAT accounting.
Strategic Planning

The post holder will take an active role in supporting the development of medium and long-term strategic plans for the Trust, requiring significant judgement, technical expertise, assumption, and professional sensitivity.
