Main Duties of the Job
The Consultant Gastroenterologist will be responsible for a range of clinical and administrative duties, including:
- Providing specialist care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders
- Participating in the general medical on-call rota
- Contributing to the development of clinical guidelines and policies

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:
- MRCP or equivalent qualification
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- Medical degree
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR
Eligibility & Fitness to Practise
The successful candidate will be eligible to work in the UK and will have the necessary skills and experience to undertake the duties of the post.
Teaching and Supervision
The Consultant Gastroenterologist will be responsible for teaching and supervising medical students and junior trainees, and will have the opportunity to develop their teaching and leadership skills.
Research and Audit
The post offers opportunities for research and audit, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies.
Clinical Practice/Competence
The Consultant Gastroenterologist will be expected to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience in Gastroenterology +/- general medicine.
