Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Manager to lead our team of engineers in developing cutting-edge video playback technology. As a key member of our JavaScript team, you will be responsible for mentoring and coaching team members, improving code quality through code reviews and collaborative practices, and designing valuable software solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and coach team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Improve code quality through code reviews, tech talks, pair programming, and other collaborative practices.
  • Design and develop software solutions that meet business needs and work well within our wider architecture.
  • Estimate efforts and identify potential risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Promote technical innovation and recommend new processes and technologies to improve our development practices.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture where engineers of diverse backgrounds can grow and thrive.
Requirements
  • Proven experience leading an engineering team with prior senior-level development experience in JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience integrating with JavaScript video players and working with low-level MSE/EME APIs.
  • Enthusiasm for building a JavaScript/TypeScript library that handles all aspects of video playback.
  • Experience working on Research and Development projects and taking them forward into a production-ready state.
  • Value collaboration with teammates and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of deadlines, constraints, and scope of delivery, and experience working with stakeholders to ensure the right balance between these is met.
  • Interest in cultivating a strong team culture where engineers of diverse backgrounds can grow.
