Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team as a Technical Lead for Video Experience. This role will involve leading the development of our universal video player, integrating across key Axon products, and delivering incredible video experiences that are fast, responsive, resilient and delight our customers.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that has the potential to make a significant impact on public safety agencies worldwide. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing our universal video player, collaborating closely with Product Managers to understand customer needs and future requirements for video products, and providing technical designs and architecture.

You will also be working in a highly collaborative manner with other technical leaders to develop best-in-class designs and be a strong contributor to your team, helping to raise the bar through your contribution to code reviews, architecture designs and approaches to quality.

About You
  • You have at least 5 years of professional software development experience, including experience with video streaming and video players.
  • You have a deep understanding of streaming and video technologies, including but not limited to HLS, Dash, FFmpeg, DRM technologies and video codecs.
  • You have hands-on backend experience in managed languages such as Java, Scala, Go, C#, or similar.
  • You have excellent communication skills and can take difficult technical concepts and make them accessible to a range of audiences.
  • You have experience with performance and optimization problems, particularly at large scale, and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems.
