Senior Mental Health Practitioner for Liaison Psychiatry Service

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Liaison Psychiatry service based in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mental health professional to contribute to the mental healthcare of people in the general hospital, working collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will have extensive post-registration experience working at Band 5 in mental health care, ideally in both inpatient and community settings. They will be confident in leading on completion of biopsychosocial assessments with people with mental health needs and have experience of clinically supervising junior and unqualified staff and mentoring students.

We welcome applications from all mental health professionals, including Nurses, Occupational Therapists, and Social Workers. The role offers a full-time position with flexible working hours, covering a Core 24 service, working 7 days a week.

About the Role

This is a key role in contributing to the mental health care of people in the general hospital, working collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide high-quality patient care.

You will be responsible for making specialist mental health assessments and devising interventions that will help individuals recover. This will involve communicating effectively with colleagues, patients, their families, and carers, as well as managing risk decision-making as part of a person's care plan.

Requirements
  • Extensive post-registration experience working at Band 5 in mental health care, ideally in both inpatient and community settings.
  • Experience of leading on completion of biopsychosocial assessments with people with mental health needs.
  • Experience of clinically supervising junior and unqualified staff and mentoring students.
