Team Horizon is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join our team supporting a leading construction company's high-profile projects in Hertfordshire.

Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager and Project/Contracts Managers, you will play a crucial role in implementing the HSE strategy across these projects. Your primary focus will be ensuring a positive safety culture is maintained, positioning our client as an industry leader in health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with operational teams to develop and monitor safe systems of work and risk assessments, ensuring all project activities are meticulously planned and executed.
  • Conduct comprehensive audits and generate reports on projects, tracking key indices and addressing any non-conformances promptly.
  • Lead and influence the health & safety culture across client projects, fostering a proactive and safety-conscious environment.
  • Support and engage the workforce in identifying potential occupational health, safety, and environmental risks, providing guidance on effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Promote positive attitudes and behaviors among all project personnel, reinforcing a strong commitment to safety.
  • Ensure projects adhere to all statutory requirements and best practices in health & safety and environmental management.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on HSE-related matters throughout the entire project lifecycle, from preconstruction to completion.
  • Implement company policies, procedures, and management systems effectively across projects.
  • Assist site management in drafting and communicating clear and concise company policies and procedures related to health & safety.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of project inductions and other essential communications to the workforce.
  • Provide comprehensive advice, guidance, and instruction on all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives, employees (including subcontractors where applicable).
  • Support the Health & Safety Manager in accreditation applications, audits, and reporting processes.
  • Facilitate internal and external inspections/audits, ensuring timely resolution of any identified issues.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, reporting findings to site management and senior company leadership.
  • Ensure prompt follow-up on identified issues to guarantee immediate action and resolution.
  • Coordinate and lead (as required) the investigation of incidents, ensuring effective learning outcomes and timely closure of actions.
  • Produce high-quality reports that clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Identify staff training requirements and deliver relevant training programs where necessary.
  • Promote a company mission of creating a healthy and incident-free workplace for all employees.
  • Liaise with enforcement authorities and client representatives on behalf of Team Horizon.
  • Actively participate in start-up meetings with site teams, contributing to the successful launch of projects.
  • Lead Project Health & Safety Excellence initiatives, driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
