Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing the implementation of our HSE strategy on projects, ensuring a positive culture is maintained, and that our clients are established as industry leaders in relation to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with operational teams to develop and monitor safe systems of work and risk assessments to ensure all project activities are adequately planned and executed.
- Audit and report on project activities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
- Lead and influence H&S culture across client projects.
- Support and engage the workforce in identifying occupational health, safety, and environmental risks and coach them in risk mitigation.
- Promote and reinforce positive attitudes and behaviors amongst the workforce.
- Ensure projects operate in compliance with all statutory requirements and best practices.
- Highlight and advise on HSE-related issues from pre-construction to completion of all associated project works.
- Implement company policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Advise and assist site management in drafting and communicating company policies and procedures.
- Support the development and delivery of project inductions and other communications to the workforce.
- Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all health and safety matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including subcontractors where appropriate).
- Assist the Health and Safety Manager in accreditation applications, auditing, and reporting.
- Facilitate internal and external inspections/audits and ensure timely close-out of any issues arising.
- Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior company management.
- Ensure issues follow-up is required to ensure that actions are dealt with immediately.
- Support, coordinate, and lead (as necessary) the investigation of incidents to ensure effective learning outcomes and timely closure of actions.
- Produce high-quality reports.
- Identify staff training requirements and deliver training where appropriate.
- Promote the company's mission of being a healthy and incident-free workplace.
- Liaise with enforcement authorities and client representatives on the company's behalf.
- Attend start-up meetings with site teams and be an active participant.
- Lead project health and safety excellence.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Third-level qualification in H&S or a related discipline.
- 3+ years' experience working on large-scale commercial/construction projects.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Conscientious, highly focused, and detail-oriented.
- Self-starter and the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders.
- Full clean driver's license preferable. Excellent communication skills.
