Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor

Team Horizon is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for directing the implementation of the HSE strategy on projects, ensuring a positive culture is maintained, and that clients are established as industry leaders in relation to health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the operational team to develop and monitor safe systems of work and risk assessments to ensure all project activities are adequately planned and executed.
  • Audit and report on projects to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
  • Lead and influence H&S culture across client projects.
  • Support and engage the workforce in identifying occupational health, safety, and environmental risks and coach them in risk mitigation.
  • Promote and reinforce positive attitudes and behaviors amongst the workforce.
  • Ensure projects operate in compliance with all statutory requirements and best practices.
  • Highlight and advise on HSE-related issues from pre-construction to completion of all associated project works.
  • Implement company policy, procedures, and management systems.
  • Advise and assist site management in drafting and communicating company policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and delivery of project induction and other communications to the workforce.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all health and safety matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including subcontractors where appropriate).
  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager in accreditation applications, auditing, and reporting.
  • Facilitate internal and external inspections/audits and ensure the timely close-out of any issues arising.
  • Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior company management.
  • Ensure issues follow-up is required to ensure that actions are dealt with immediately.
  • Support, coordinate, and lead (as necessary) the investigation of incidents to ensure effective learning outcomes and timely closure of actions.
  • Produce high-quality reports.
  • Identify staff training requirements and deliver where appropriate training.
  • Promote the Company mission of being a healthy and incident- and injury-free workplace.
  • Liaise with enforcement authorities and client representatives on the company's behalf.
  • Attend start-up meetings with site teams and be an active participant.
  • Lead project health and safety excellence.
Requirements:
  • Third-level qualification in H&S or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience working on large-scale commercial/construction projects.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Conscientious, highly focused, and detail-oriented.
  • Self-starter and the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Full clean driver's license preferable. Excellent communication skills.
