English Teacher Opportunity at Westbury School

We are seeking an experienced English Teacher to join our team at Westbury School, a specialist school providing a holistic approach to students with individual needs. As the Lead English Teacher, you will be responsible for developing the English curriculum, planning lessons, and monitoring student progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons to support students' progress and embed key concepts in their long-term memory.
  • Set clear targets for students' learning, considering their individual needs and prior attainment.
  • Have regard for and plan to meet the special educational needs of students.
  • Develop expert knowledge in the subject area and enable all students to understand key concepts.
  • Assess student work and progress, providing regular feedback to inform teaching.
  • Prioritize reading to develop students' fluency, confidence, and enjoyment.
  • Sequence learning towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge and meaningful accreditation.
  • Report on student progress in line with school policy.
  • Maintain a stimulating and engaging learning environment.
  • Manage behavior in line with school policy.
  • Undertake a pastoral and support role as required.
  • Attend school events as required.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development.
