London, Greater London, United Kingdom International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled Sound Heritage Archivist to join our team at the British Library in St Pancras, London. The successful candidate will work on the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage project, a major preservation and access initiative that aims to digitally preserve almost half a million sound recordings.

The role entails cataloguing audio recordings in the British Library's collection, creating and enhancing metadata, and collaborating with our Curatorial team to ensure the accuracy and consistency of our digital archive.

As an ideal candidate, you should have knowledge of classical music and its taxonomy, as well as experience working with audio editing software and metadata creation tools. A degree-level qualification or higher is desirable, but not essential - we value practical experience and a background in a relevant field.

In return, we offer a competitive salary of approximately £27,500 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week. You will also receive excellent benefits, including flexible working hours, up to 5 days' flexi leave per year, and membership of the Alpha Pension Scheme.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a Heritage Lottery funded project and work with our talented team of archivists and curators. If you are passionate about preserving cultural heritage and have the skills and expertise to succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply.
