About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Ward Doctor to join our team at South Petherton Community Hospital. As a Specialist Ward Doctor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients with stroke and other complex conditions.

Our hospital is a 20-bedded community hospital that offers a range of services, including stroke rehabilitation, medical care, and community services. We are proud of our multidisciplinary team that works collaboratively to provide the best possible care for our patients.

As a Specialist Ward Doctor, you will be supported by senior consultants and will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of stroke and community practice in line with best practice and nationally accredited standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessments and advice on the medical treatment of patients with stroke and other complex conditions.
  • Liaise with a range of professionals, disciplines, and medical specialties to ensure seamless admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Contribute to the development of stroke and community practice in line with best practice and nationally accredited standards.

Requirements:

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Accredited for the training of junior doctors.
  • Experience of working in older persons care.
  • 3 years supervised training in an appropriate ST1-3 or equivalent training/experience programme.
