About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Arts Therapist to join our team at Shooting Star Children's Hospices in West London. As an Arts Therapist, you will provide high-quality therapy to children and family members, addressing the psychological challenges associated with life-limiting conditions, trauma, and issues of loss and grief.
This is a new community-based post, enabling those not previously able to access services to receive needed therapy and support. You will work holistically with a multi-disciplinary team of psychosocial professionals, providing assessment, individual and group therapy programs, and advice, education, and support to staff, families, schools, and other professionals.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience of working as an Arts Therapist in a health or social care environment, with a diverse caseload, and be skilled in working closely with parents/carers, providing clinical expertise, and suggesting specific approaches/strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality art, drama, or music therapy to children and family members
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment, individual and group therapy programs
- Provide advice, education, and support to staff, families, schools, and other professionals
- Utilize skills, knowledge, and expertise to provide clinical expertise and suggest specific approaches/strategies
Requirements
- Experience of working as an Arts Therapist in a health or social care environment
- Significant experience of working with children and young people, including those with disabilities and those experiencing loss and grief, and chronic or acute trauma
- Ability to work closely with parents/carers, providing clinical expertise, and suggesting specific approaches/strategies
