Our team is comprised of experts in energy market economics, operations research, and electrical engineering, with a strong understanding of energy systems operation and market fundamentals.

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Market Analyst to join our EMEA Solutions team. As a member of our team, you will become a subject matter expert in European energy markets, working closely with System Operators, Transmission Operators, Regulators, and other public entities/governmental organizations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy market economics, be familiar with wholesale market trends, and have an understanding of key market drivers. You will be responsible for leading projects to deliver energy market models and implementing our PLEXOS software, as well as supporting business development by generating thought leadership and providing domain and technical expertise throughout the sales process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements gathering workshops to understand customer desired outcomes.
  • Design innovative modelling approaches using the PLEXOS software to deliver upon customer needs.
  • Provide guidance on industry best practices and modelling, and work with customers to develop market assumptions as input to the models.
  • Help customers to analyse the models and understand the outcomes, and make recommendations to modify the underlying data or modelling assumptions.
  • Perform model calibration to align model outcomes with historical benchmarks.
  • Provide consultation around how customers can use PLEXOS as a tool to enable strategic changes within their organization.
  • Develop test plans and implement various test cases, and work with the product support team to resolve issues.
  • Provide training on the use of the PLEXOS modelling software.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electricity markets, power trading, or electrical systems planning and operations.
  • Experience in energy market supply and demand modelling via optimization/unit commitment, preferably via commercial tools such as PLEXOS, BID3, Antaras, SDDP, PROMOD, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal presence and skills, with the ability to build rapport.
  • Proficient with corporate productivity and web presentation tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong listening and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Self-driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook and a focus on quality.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard Microsoft programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Sense of urgency for goal achievement.
  • Strong desire for personal and career advancement.
  • A tertiary degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics, Operations Research, or similar degree, with specialisation in Electricity Systems (and/or Markets).
  • 3-4 years' experience in energy markets with a strong understanding of energy economics and market fundamentals, energy systems operation and/or engineering.
  • Knowledge of PLEXOS or other mathematically based optimisation tools.

Desired but not required

  • Experience with ENTSO-E working groups, particularly around the TYNDP or ERAA studies.
