Job Description

As a Level Designer at Build A Rocket Boy, you will be instrumental in creating AAA-quality content, ranging from multiplayer maps to single-player missions, using player-facing creation tools. This role is a blend of artistry and technical skill, requiring a deep passion for crafting engaging, immersive, and fun game environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Develop Engaging Levels: Ensure levels align with the overall game vision, from concept to final implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Team: Work with artists and programmers to incorporate gameplay elements, logic, and aesthetics into levels.
  • Iterate on Level Design: Utilise feedback from leads and directors to maintain a balance between creative aspirations and gameplay functionality.
  • Communicate Effectively: Solve problems, address risks, and ensure cohesive project progression across teams.
  • Stay Ahead of Industry Trends: Continuously seek ways to enhance the player's experience through innovative level design.
Requirements
  • A compelling portfolio showcasing levels or missions created within game engines or through player-facing creation tools.
  • Strong understanding of level design principles and what makes games enjoyable.
  • Experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with scripting or blueprint systems is a significant plus.
  • Games industry experience is highly valued, though not required with an outstanding portfolio.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a self-motivated drive to overcome design challenges.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, adaptable to changing priorities.
