Academic Development Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Development Assistant to join our team at TeachMatch. As an Academic Development Assistant, you will work with students who require additional support in managing their emotions and behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementing personalised learning plans and strategies to support student's emotional and academic development
- Providing individual and group support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom
- Helping students develop coping strategies for managing their emotions and behaviours
- Fostering a positive, nurturing classroom environment that supports student's social and emotional growth
- Building strong relationships with students to help them feel safe, valued, and confident in their learning
- Working closely with teachers and other staff to track student progress and provide ongoing support
- Promoting inclusivity and positive behaviour, while ensuring a calm, respectful environment for all students
- SUPPORTING the overall well-being of students, acting as a mentor and role model where necessary
- Communicating effectively with parents and other professionals, ensuring a collaborative approach to support each student's needs
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs (ideal but not essential)
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
- The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
- A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students
- A passion for supporting student's emotional and academic development
- A commitment to making a real difference in the lives of young learners
- Previous experience working in an education or care setting would be beneficial but not essential
